What's New with Me?
In January 2001, my nephew, Jordan and I, enjoyed the sights and sounds of Washington D.C. It was especially interesting to be there less than a week before the Presidential Inauguration.

I enjoyed an opportunity to volunteer for the World Junior Curling Championships in Ogden, Utah during March 2001. The experience was wonderful! The other volunteers were some of the friendliest and nicest people I had to work with. Hats off to those that worked with me March 21 when I had the honor of being the team leader. The staff, athletes and coaches all deserve a great big pat on the back for being so patient with us! I can hardly wait for the 2002 Olympics to come and experience this again.

Jordan and I visited San Francisco September 12-16, 2001. Having planned on driving, we were fortunate to still make it there, in light of the events in New York, Washington DC and Philadelphia the day before. While we were very sorry for those that lost their lives and that of loved ones, we did enjoy a very quiet city. Our hotel, near the airport was very quiet given the absence of any incoming or outgoing flights. The only sight of added security, other than more police offers present on the street, was the closing of the Golden Gate Bridge to foot traffic. Since we were short on time anyway, it was no loss. Otherwise, we had a fun time.

My other nephew, Brian (Jordan's younger brother) and I met my good friend Martha in Disneyland. We spend one full day at Disneyland, one day in the new California Park, one day at Sea World (I won't planning on returning for a long time to this "park") and one day at the San Diego Zoo. We had a good time.

Once again, I had the opportunity to work with some of America's greatest athletes. In December 2001, I was an events services volunteer at the US Olympic Trials in Ogden, Utah. I have been informed I am to be a team leader during the games, and this was an opportunity to work with other team leaders and a few game-times hosts. Whie I enjoyed the experience, I was very disapointed in the male athletes that were selected to represent the United States. They have got to be some of the unfriendliest curlers in the country. On the other hand, the women's team is something the United States can be proud of. Go USA (womens team, that is)!

In Juanuary 2002 Jordan and I visited New Orleans, Louisiana. Not only was our visit during Marti Gras, we were there a couple of weeks before the Super Bowl. We both had a great time. Of corse, Jordan ate well, with his love of seafood (any food for that matter).

From February 11th to 22nd, I had the unique opportunity to be a volunteer for the 2002 Olympics. As a team leader for the Ice Sheet in Ogden, I worked with wonderful individuals committed to friendliness and cooperation with each other. What a wonderful experience to meet dedicated volunteers, staff, and athletes. Even our association with law enforcement, secret service and national guard was a pleasant experience.
